For more than a decade, eccentric entrepreneur Hennie van der Most has been building what he hopes will become his ultimate legacy: an amusement park constructed largely from recycled materials on the site of a former waste incineration plant in Rotterdam.
Having built a business empire by transforming abandoned factories, hospitals and industrial sites into thriving destinations, Hennie is no stranger to ambitious ideas. Yet this final project proves to be his greatest challenge. As funding runs low, deadlines slip and bureaucratic obstacles continue to mount, the dream of opening the park seems increasingly uncertain.
Beyond the construction site, Pretpark Hennie offers an intimate and often humorous portrait of a stubborn visionary who refuses to give up. While others see obstacles, Hennie sees possibilities. Through years of setbacks, perseverance and imagination, the film explores the enduring power of optimism and the determination to leave something meaningful behind.
