Story
“Ieder uur een woord, een daad” tells the remarkable story of Jacques and Agneta van Marken, the pioneering couple who helped shape the foundations of the modern welfare state in late nineteenth century Delft.
Long before social entrepreneurship became a familiar concept, they introduced workers’ housing, pension schemes and social provisions. Using unique historical footage and AI technology, the film brings their world back to life and explores what today’s entrepreneurs, citizens and policymakers can learn from their progressive ideas.
The film premieres at Filmhuis Lumen in Delft on 9 September 2026, followed by several additional screenings.
